Cycling, whether in the countryside or in cities, has grown almost astronomically in recent years. Many European cities and their councils are accelerating the building of new cycle paths at the expense of car traffic. It must be remembered that this is about healthy and free travel with zero emissions. Regular cycling improves health and extends life expectancy. Across Europe, it is estimated that the number of people interested in regular cycling has increased by around 20 percent after 2021. At the same time, the number of women cyclists has increased significantly. There are currently more than 40,000 kilometres of cycle routes in the Europe and more are being built. The Centre for Transport Research reports in its study that almost a third of the EU population took regular bike rides in 2020. 

Creating conditions for mobility, optimization and equipment of the network of cycle paths and cycle routes should be a priority not only of the state administration, but also of strong companies responsible to the environment, modern way of life, which positively accept technological progress and participate in it. The construction of multifunctional/rest and recharging zones along cycle paths is an important programme that enables the development of this transport sector and at the same time increases the comfort of active residents.
